What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.

Medical again

This time it's my ears, so had a half day Friday after working half an hour extra Monday to Thursday (I'm saving my annual leave just so I can disappear sometime in the future for a bit).

Anyway I needed some wax removed and a 2.30 appointment worked out well for a half day shopping. I did apologize to the ear nurse on arrival in girl mode, stating it's how I reduces my anxiety and feels more normal than tee shirt and jeans.

Nurse said she was fine with it, I think she concentrates more on ears (well I hope so being a ear nurse). It was a very pleasant interaction, as was my lunch, where I had a nice conversation in the cafe with a charming late 50's gentleman over a newspaper article, followed up with an older woman who casually leaned over a chair back and started a conversation while waiting for her coffee to be made. These sorts of conversations never happen when I'm in male mode - are males that threatening?

Oh, shopping, tried on 3 dresses at "The Warehouse" - loved the $40 one on the hook behind me but also wanted to try on something a bit more clingy and see through. Also meandered through several ladies shops trying on various looks.

Earlier in the week, more coffee and lunch (Chicken Avo sandwich - one can have too many cakes).

Mistaken Identity?

So normally I go to my chemist in girl mode (dress, wig, makeup), but today I couldn't be bothered and rocked up in boy mode - shirt and jeans.

My chemist is really cool and his staff are great and I see his pharmacist staff get my prescription out of the storage draw before I get anywhere near the counter.

I guess Rachel looks a bit like me (poor girl), if we are equally recognizable.

Visited my oldest daughter

One of her dogs go ill over the weekend and had major surgery. The dog went home on Monday but daughter needed a dog sitter for mid morning Tuesday so I took the day off (Tuesday was going to be a bit slow anyway). It's a 60 minute drive so I stopped at McDonalds for breakfast coffee on the way there

I got into her neighbourhood just as the sun was coming up and went to the waterfront to have an early drone flight.

She rang me while I was at the waterfront asking when I would arrive, I advised her I was still in girl mode and would need to change first, she said don't bother, just come as you are and your welcome to get changed here.

So I arrived and her other dog was excited to see me jumped on me (as usual), I was expecting my stockings to be ripped apart as her paws and claws slide down my legs after the greeting but they held out. We had a drink before she left for her half day of work. When she got back we had a lovely in-depth chat for about an hour before I headed for home.

I stopped on the way home at Mitre 10, checked out the garden rakes and visited the coffee shop in their premises for another coffee and snack.

I got home around 3pm, did a few house chores and cooked dinner for when my wife came home getting changed about 30 minutes before she got home - of course she asked me to try again at taking my makeup off, not sure if it's the mascara or eyeshadow she keeps on seeing

Saturday, Up early before anyone at home wakes and head out for coffee.

People were setting up market stalls in the town centre next to the cafe and some stalls were trading by 8am so I decided to spend a few minutes looking over the produce and products for sale.
8.15 and Labtest has already opened, so I visit so they can take a sample of blood to check an illness. I was about the 12th person through the door and had to wait with everyone else for about 15 minutes before having a tiny bit of blood removed.

Remembering my wife, kids and grandkids were going out for half a day, I decided there was no hurry and I could surprise my wife by making progress on a patio project.

I returned to Mitre 10 and bought a rake I saw on Tuesday, but was to excited to get half a meter of course metal for a patio base that I didn't stop for coffee this time.

Made it to Central Landscape in the same outfit, borrowed a trailer and got my course metal home. I decided these jeans weren't suitable for shoveling the stones from the trailer on the front driveway, into a wheelbarrow and around to the rear of my home, so changed into gym leggings that I've worn during all the digging I've done to level the patio area. I was so anxious to get the trailer back, I just rocked up in the tee shirt and dirty leggings.

By this time, I really needed lunch (a coffee at breakfast isn't overly filling), but decided to wear my wifes wrap dress as I didn't want to go in with scruffy clothes.

By the time wife and family got back home, while I was changed into male clothes, wife decided we should head out to other family visits - AFTER I remove my eye makeup (I can't see it so it can't be there right?)

Social Norms

Okay, so we all want to blend and become one of the girls, but what happens if you want to be an extra ordinary girl? Is this like breaking the rules? Surely, if you want to be "normal" stay in mens clothes but if your going to swap genders, why not go hard at it if your in that mood.

So anyway, being in an extraordinary mood, I decided to go hard with black and as shiny as my wardrobe allows, black body suit, black skirt, black jacket and just to lighten the mood a bit, light coloured hair.

Never in my life have I greeted so many strangers and had them wishing me a good morning, in my life, tough looking blokes and woman walking by, even those telling their mates to turn around for a look, I got a pleasant good morning out of them. Maybe they picked up on my mood or maybe my confidence but it sure made for a fantastic morning shopping.

Later in the afternoon, it got a bit hot so I decided to cool down a bit and I know some of you will like the way I go from overheated to cool 😆😇

Otherwise
We can just try to blend, which is also fun if you take a good attitude with you even if it is just out for something as mundane as lunch.

I wasn't wearing makeup this morning as it was a quick coffee outing, back home by 9.30am. Wife and kids were expecting me home for heavy renovation work, so I didn't take a photo for you, scared it might hurt the camera.
I was spotted by some teenage girls and while they knew I have a male body that was dressed differently, their interest in me lasted about 2 seconds, maybe 3. Meanwhile I had a polite conversation with a couple of adult females at the coffee shop about what was in todays newspaper and how non of of us won the $33M lotto (yes that was in the newspaper as well- that no one won it).

I think, in most of New Zealand, you can just be yourself (with a good attitude), I've never had an issue being myself on aircraft, in other towns, at the doctors.
