What counts in life is not the mere fact that we have lived.
It is what difference we have made to the lives of others that will determine the significance of the life we lead.

Touring with the wife

Good excuse to borrow her blue dress, but when we're out together, I'm limited to mascara.

Heading to petrol station to re-fill and use the car wash

Americas cup, back home in Auckland, New Zealand

So we weren't too happy when Dennis stole the cup by putting a catamaran into a mono-hull boat race. It's nice to have mono-hulls back for the Americas cup racing and especially amazing to see the technology with the use of foils and other refinements.

The racing done, very upset we couldn't have international visitors, but still fun to be able to watch the great event in my home city.

My morning started off with the need for short skirts, especially shiny thin material, just wish my mesh top wasn't so long.

I decided, as the day was getting on and my outfit was more for night time, a quick car change to more respectable clothing for a trip to the beach and a visit to Bunning Hardware (wife's after some serious storage racking and other stuff for around the house).

Wife also wanted a paddling pool for the grandchild, but I got distracted with the idea of a new battery drill. Wife asked "Who went to Bunnings?" - I replied with a smile - "Rachel"

Weekend of Christmas shopping

It would seem, no matter how many malls I visit, I just can't find the right gift.

I've searched Sylvia park

I've searched Newmarket mall

Finally gave up, went to Bunnings and bought myself a mini green house, a starter tray and a few seeds. I also got blue marker paint so wife can design her new garden.

As I'm writing this, wife marks out her new garden - this is the outline she has planned (kids think it's funny, not sure about the neighbours though).

World has gone mad

For the last 3 Million years (actually probably more like 2 billion years), we have had males and females, boys and girls- for 100% of our ancestry it's worked well when describing reproductive capabilities and my guess would be 95% for gender, 90% for sexuality, 60% for interest and strength.

Sure it doesn't get everyone 100% correct, heck I relate better to an ethnic group that probably raped my ancestor 800 years ago, but people label me as English - should I be offended? should I force the world to call me Roman? Can I have an EU passport now? When I think about a social group, I relate to cowboys, can I have a Green card so I can live in America?

Anyway - it seems we are about to teach our 5 year olds in school about gender neutral expressions.

No longer is it he or she, it's they or them, no longer will boys go to the field for a game of football, it's soon going to be "those with socks on can go play football" (okay - I'm more for those that want to play, to go play, but imagine the game that's not ageist either, the 5 year olds are going to be badly hurt by the 15 year olds - so generally, to protect the physically weaker, we have age and gender related teams)

I wouldn't be surprised if toilets will soon change labels -

"hey mum, I just need to use the Theys room"

"sorry soda (aka not son or daughter), I didn't know you were a Theys, I thought you were a Thems"

"No mum, I'm a Theys, no one wants to be a Thems!!!"

Humans have a subconscious automatic "threat detection" system built in from 4 million years of Darwinism. A female will feel a higher risk of harm in a dark ally, from males than female, she would feel a similar condition when playing football against males, maybe even a game of golf.

So I say, let boys be boys if they want to be, and girls be girls if they want to be (not theys or thems)

Been an interesting week

It's weird what people will invest in. My daughter started an new investment scheme and has roped me in for 50%. In theory I should double my money in about 9 months, but then I see people poring money into cyber currency. I'm hoping our project is a bit less a risk.

More of a worry is my youngest daughter having her first sleep over at a boys house. I do worry about how boys can be, I just hope she doesn't get her heart broken to quickly into the dating game

I've had a few quick outings, coffee, groceries etc but I'm still saving hard so wife and I can get away on holidays (I wanted to camp but it's not my wifes thing, so we're using motels at this stage)
